Diversity

Differentiated Instruction

Diversity is becoming more of a conversation each day in the classroom. Students come from different social, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. I believe that diversity can look different in each classroom, and it goes far beyond the color of a person's skin. In a classroom, this can be shown through this different types of moderation and accommodation that a teacher is willing to give their students. This is shown in the following assignments that have been posted because it creates an overall effect of how diversity affects the student inside and outside of the classroom.

My Projects

Diversity

Dive deeper into my time in my service learning, modeling after a teacher in an elementary school. It was a joy to see the diversity of the students, and it gave me an insight as to what biological, psychological, and social - cultural effects can have on a student's identity.

Auburn University has given me insight as to where a child should be in each grade, and the effects that could happen if they get below or above the normal average. What is interesting is that every child is different. Take a look at one of the children I have had the honor of working with, and notice the specificity as to what it takes to be a teacher and advocate for each of my students.

I had the pleasure of interviewing an Auburn University professor, Ms. Jung Won Hur, as she came to the United States with the dream of being a professor of teaching. This takes a closer look into the lives of those who feel set apart or different, and how it impacts the overall translation into the classroom.

As a teacher, we must continually ask ourselves questions in order to see where we can build and diversify our classroom. In this document, I had the opportunity to show my knowledge of diversity in order to see what changes could be made in the observed classroom and my own. This was done by watching a webinar of differentiation in students. These are my thoughts on the matter at hand.
